We, here at OUTSHOUTS, have a special place in hearts for Australia and all things Australian for no better reason than that our fearsome co-founder John, hails from Oz and can still entertain with the occasional reference to ‘bickeys’ and ‘budgey smugglers’.  You’ll also notice that our mascot is a platypus - that loveable mashup of a marsupial.  Anyway, when a great video from the legendary John Clark comes our way, we have to share…here’s an OUTSHOUT from (very) late last night to our friends down under.

Josey Vogels from SEE Magazine gave us a shout out in her blog: My Messy Bedroom.  Our very own OUTSHOUTS was included in a frightening (but somewhat hilarious) entry titled: Darling, I Cooked You Some Balls (worth a read, if just for advice on ostrich testicles).  Here’s an excerpt:

We just released a few new features today:

First, you’ll find a handy new Address Book on the send page which will automatically keep track of your email and mobile phone addresses. Each time you send an OUTSHOUT, your send-to addresses will be added to your Address Book for easy sending later (no more annoying look ups).

We’ve also just added a new Follow Me button which let’s you follow any of the public OUTSHOUTS of your friends and favorite OUTSHOUTERS.  How this work? Simple: just click the Follow Me button under the profile picture of the OUTSHOUTER you’d like to follow. Once you’re following someone, you’ll automatically receive any of their public OUTSHOUTS marked for Followers.  To Unfollow someone (that is, to stop receiving their public OUTSHOUTS), just click Unfollow under their profile picture.

Four exciting new updates to roll-out:

First, OUTSHOUTS are getting posted everywhere  — on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Hi5, Tagged….  We’ve fine-tuned the player widgets to make even easier to embed OUTSHOUTS on your favorite social network or blog. It’s now super simple to embed or link your OUTSHOUTS just about anywhere with only a few clicks.

Second, everyone now has an awesome new video SHOUT list on your profile page!  Every video you save ends up here to preview, OUTSHOUT and share with your friends. If you click on the Preview button at the top of your SHOUT List, the whole thing will auto-magically load into the homepage player and off you go.

We’ve added a new carousel of video play lists on the homepage so you can explore what’s hot by interest, ocassion, or channel - be sure to check out  Meth Minute 39 (props to lonewolf1019 for introducing us).

Finally, don’t miss the handy new personal Address Book on the send page.  Now all of your OUTSHOUTS friends will be listed here, along with the addresses of friends you’ve sent OUTSHOUTS to along the way.  Each time you send an OUTSHOUT or invite new friends your Address Book will auto-magically add that email, username or mobile number for easy future access.

Video OUTSHOUTS is up and running and we’re delighted.  And tired. And so excited. We’ve been road-testing since mid-July and have already received almost 300K visitors and over 2 million page views - mainly through our community marketing efforts on social networks like Myspace, Facebook.  Our public launch is planned for September 15th (just around the corner).

We’ve had a ton of great feedback, most consistently around how users are liking the cool new Flex UI (3 clicks and you’re done) as well as the new video search bar on the homepage where you can find over 500 million videos to play, save and personalize as your very own OUTSHOUT.  You can also add URLs for any web-accessible MP3s and drop those into your OUTSHOUT as well.

What we thought would be a great way to intro your favorite music has quickly morphed into the very best way to send birthday cards, advance a cause, sell a product, promote a new idea, send an invite, announce a new baby, introduce your band, say hi to mom, and of course, dedicate your favorite song.

Yesterday someone asked us what’s been the most popular OUTSHOUT to date.  Well, hands down, it’s got to be Artygurl’s  ‘Ken Lee’.
